Introduction

Our Centre has built up a wide service network with other service units in different sectors within the district, providing a series of comprehensive services to our elders to cater for the medical, health, psychosocial and personal care needs of both healthy and frail elders.


Service Objectives
MOSDECC assists the elders to actively participate in the community and lead a healthy, respected and dignified life through our district level support services. The centre also promotes residents living in Sha Tin and other interest groups to jointly build a caring community.

Services Overview

Scope of Service


1            Educational and Developmental Program

Organize diverse educational and developmental programs for the elders to enable them to learn more knowledge and keep abreast of the society so as to enrich their living and actualize the objective of self-worthiness via lifelong learning.

2            Volunteer Development

Mobilize and train the elderly for volunteer development with the aim to advocate the spirit of self-worthiness, in the mean time, it is to enable them to experience “Centre is My Home, Let’s Volunteer and Contribute Together”.

3            Information and Referral Service

To make them well-informed and enable the elders to better utilize community resources and facilities, the Centre disseminates information of service and resources to members from time to time. Through the publication of newsletters for the elders and community at large, we aim at enhancing the public’s understanding of related welfare policies and information.

 

When needs identified, the needy elders will be referred to related services and resources offered by welfare service units, hospitals and other government departments.

4            Counseling Service

Provide counseling, guidance and support via casework and group work which are aimed at helping the elders and family carers to cope better and constructively with interpersonal, emotional, psychosocial, physical, financial, housing problems and stress.

5        Support Team for the Elderly

Strengthen social network and provide outreaching service to the vulnerable and disadvantaged elderly. The team also advocates elder volunteerism by mobilizing elderly people to participate in volunteer work.

6        Carer Support Service

Support carers to acquire necessary resources and skills for taking care of the frail elders by providing reference materials, leasing rehabilitation equipment and rendering emotional support.

7        Community Education  

Set up mobile service stations in some housing estates so as to serve the needy elders outside centre.  Educational programs to different groups in the community will be organized to advocate a better understanding and to build a positive image of older adults.

8        Service for Hidden and Vulnerable Elderly

Identify and engage the financially, socially and psychologically deprived elders and to provide necessary services, particularly the isolated elders who are lack of social support.  

9      Social and Recreational activities

        Organize a wide range of recreational activities to members and non-members in order to encourage them participate in the community as well as prolong the elder dynamic.

10    Meal, Laundry and Shower Service

        The Centre provides different services for the elder convenience, including meal service, laundry service as well as shower service.

11    Drop-in Service

Provide a spacious, comfortable and warm resting place for the elders.   Healthy, educational and enjoyable activities are arranged for them to better utilize the leisure time and strengthen their connection with the community.

12    Fellowship for Elders

In light of the spirit of whole-person caring, the Centre also provides religious and spiritual support to the elders.

Collaborations and Partnership:


1        To establish strategic partnership with other stakeholders so as to provide integrated service to the elders in the community.

2        To collaborate in a concerted effort with strategic partners to serve the community as well as to identify and fill the service gaps in the district.
